Gail’s Tesla Podcast on 𝕏 Episode No. 59: Cybertruck is the perfect Texas truck!

Gail Alfar in Cybertruck bed.

(Austin, Texas) Cybertruck is the perfect Texas truck! Will eventually outsell all gasoline trucks.

Near the start of this podcast, I mistakenly thought COMFORT MODE in the Cybertruck was COMBAT MODE. I shared a 14-second video in which I jokingly asked Elon Musk to install Combat Mode in the Cybertruck. To which Elon replied, “Good Idea.”

Elon Musk thinks Combat Mode is a good idea!
Will the Cybertruck have Combat Mode one day?

Gail’s Tesla Podcast on X Episode No. 58: A Texas School District Buys 9 Tesla Model Y

Eanes ISD new officers and Foundation representative celebrate near a new Tesla Model Y police vehicle. photo by Gail Alfar.

(Austin, Texas)

It’s early Wednesday evening and the performing arts center at Westlake High School near Austin is filled with excited people for the pinning ceremony to commission nine police officers  The ceremony is in concert with the first use of 9 Model Y police cars.

In Texas, the law that makes an officer mandatory in each school is House Bill 3 (HB 3), which was passed in 2023 following the tragic shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde. This law requires every school district to have at least one armed officer on every campus.

Enjoy Podcast episode number 58 where I take you behind the scenes to see the new Model Y Police cars, all on FSD beta!

Eanes ISD Police Department Purchases Tesla Model Y Cars for Enhanced Campus Safety

(Austin, Texas) In a move towards increased campus safety, Eanes Independent School District (ISD) Police Department in Austin, Texas, has recently taken delivery of a fleet of nine Tesla Model Y police cars. This decision comes in the wake of the tragic shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, which led to the passage of House Bill 3 (HB 3) in 2023, mandating the presence of an armed officer on every campus.

The Eanes ISD Police Department, led by Director Matt Greer, was formed from scratch, with a focus on recruiting experienced officers. The department’s commitment to safety extends beyond the school grounds. I spoke with James Spradley, President of the Board of Trustees, who informed me the Tesla vehicles will be “parked in front of each school during school hours and driven home by the assigned officers at night,” this serves as a visible deterrent and symbol of security in the Westlake community.

The decision to choose Tesla as the official vehicle supplier for the department was made based on a competitive bidding process. Tesla’s cost-effective proposal, outbidding other car manufacturers by a big margin, made Model Y the clear choice. Another Model Y police car advantage is Tesla’s Sentry Guard system, providing enhanced monitoring and safety for the students, staff, officers and the community.

An Eanes ISD Police Officer stands next to the Tesla Model Y Police Car. There will be 9 cars.

One Model Y in the new fleet of Tesla police cars was unveiled during the pinning ceremony, attended by the Eanes ISD Police Department’s 11 officers. The event was graced by the presence of Interim Chief of Police Robin Henderson and Board of Trustees President James Spradley, who emphasized the importance of the new department.

This collaboration between Eanes ISD and Tesla marks a significant step towards safer schools and communities, as well as a commitment to sustainability and innovation in law enforcement. As the officers of the Eanes ISD Police Department embark on their new journey, the community can rest assured that they are in good hands.

Congratulations to the officers including Lt. Brett Kelley (Director), Kevin Ybarsky, Matthew Greer, Veneza Bremner, Kevin Rybarski, America Bonnet, Juan Zaccheus, Rod Mayberry, and Mike Cowden.

Gail’s Tesla Podcast on X Episode No. 57: Voting in Travis County, City of Austin

(Austin, Texas) Join Gail for a trip using Tesla FSD beta to go vote in the Texas primaries.

The drive is flawless and so is the voting experience. The only unusual thing is that there are almost no people at the polls. Here’s my experience.

Voting in Travis County, City of Austin

Besides the six people working at the polls, I was the only person present voting. This was after work, so around 4:30 pm or so. I cannot say if it is due to people just having no interest in voting, or if it relates to people using mail-in ballots. Mail-in ballots took hold on a wide scale during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic era.

Gail’s Tesla Podcast Episode No. 56: Cybertruck is 100% Norweigan Viking Approved!

(Austin, Texas) I was blessed to be a hostess for three amazing visitors from Norway to Austin for a day.

Arve, who goes by @CaptainArve on the X app, because he really IS a captain of a seafaring vessel in Norway, brought two close friends (who also work on boats in Norway) to Austin, in hopes of trying out FSD beta for the first time and in hopes of seeing a Cybertruck for the first time as well!

Fresh from the Gigafactory… a Cybertruck!

Guess what? The guys got to experience both! As soon as I met them we all drove using FSD beta to nearby to the Tesla Gigafactory. At the factory, we were delighted to meet a Tesla engineer who showed us the details of a new-from-the-factory Cybertruck! Arve was even invited to sit in the amazing vehicle!

Arve in a freshly made Cybertruck near Gigafactory Texas. Smile tells all!

Arve is a pro at using FSD beta!

Pretty amazing! Arve experiences FSD beta for the first time. So much fun.

Thank you for watching

My passion for this format is to inspire and encourage other people to use Tesla’s FSD beta software in their Model Y, Model 3, Model S or Model X. The reason for this is summed up in one word: SAFETY.

When Tesla Autopilot is used, it turns out that there is only one accident out of 5.5 Million miles driven. Tragically, without using the software, there is a staggering one accident after only 1 million miles driven (in a Tesla). But the US overall average is even worse. For every 500,000 miles, there is an accident.

Lives are saved with Tesla Autopilot.

Gail’s Tesla Podcast Episode No. 55: Valentine’s Day at Kendra Scott Jewelry

Austin, Texas

We are headed to the amazing Kendra Scott headquarters in Austin to visit an incredible store.

Our drive in the Model Y on FSD beta caught the attention of Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X. Linda was inspired to reply to Gail’s Tesla Podcast, saying she loves Kendra’s jewelry!

Let’s meet Kendra Scott! (or at least visit one of her many stores)

Kendra’s story is inspiring

Kendra Scott started her business in Austin, Texas in 2002 with just $500 and a spare bedroom in her home. She overcame skepticism from those who believed she needed to move to New York to succeed in the fashion industry, but she proved them wrong by building her successful empire in the heart of Austin.

Her designs were featured in various fashion shows, and her big break came when her jewelry was chosen for Oscar de la Renta’s Spring 2006 Runway Show. In an interview with The Daily Front Row, Kendra said,

“In 2005, I had the honor of meeting Mr. de la Renta and collaborating with him to design the jewelry for his Spring 2006 runway show. I’ve always respected and admired this man, and I will never forget him giving a young designer like me a chance. I will forever remember his brilliant talent and incredible generosity. It truly was the experience of a lifetime.”

The 2009 recession nearly wiped out everything she had. Despite this setback, Kendra persevered and continued to grow her brand.

Her designs have resonated with people worldwide, and she has become a household name. Kendra is a shining example of what can be achieved with passion and dedication.

Why I do this podcast.

Since 55 podcasts is a milestone, I thought I would reflect on why I do these podcasts.

For every 500,000 miles, there is an accident. Lives are saved with Tesla Autopilot.

I think that Tesla’s FSD beta is orders of magnitude safer than regular Autopilot. I have plans to reach 420 podcasts!

Embracing Tesla Autopilot: A Journey Towards Safer Roads and a Brighter Future

Austin, Texas

The rain gently falls on my windshield as I navigate the slick streets of Austin, Texas. It’s a somber reminder of the accidents I’ve witnessed on days like this, when human drivers struggle to maintain control in the downpour. But there’s hope on the horizon, as Tesla Autopilot promises to change the way we think about road safety and make days like this less treacherous.

The current state of road safety leaves much to be desired. On average, there is an accident every 750,000 miles when people drive on human pilot. This is a stark reminder that there is room for improvement.

In contrast, Tesla Autopilot has demonstrated remarkable success in reducing accidents. With an impressive record of just 1 accident for every 6 million miles driven, it is clear that this technology has the power to make our roads safer.

I am grateful for Elon Musk’s dedication and vision in developing this life-saving technology. His work has laid the foundation for a safer future, and we should all be thankful for his contribution.

As one driver among millions using Tesla Autopilot, I am proud to be part of this movement towards safer roads. My hope is that humanity continues to be blessed on a wide scale with the widespread adoption of Tesla’s technology.

Imagine a world where driving on human pilot is a rarity, and the majority of vehicles are equipped with Tesla Autopilot. This is not just a dream, but a reality that we can achieve through our collective efforts.

Let us come together to support the adoption of Tesla Autopilot and create a safer, more caring world for all. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that our roads are filled with love, kindness, and inspiration.

Gail’s Tesla Podcast Episode No. 54: Train Track Slowdown

Austin, Texas

Join me for a drive in the Tesla Model Y in downtown Austin, Texas where we will study the curious edge case that takes place near Downs Field, 2816 E 12th Street at a train track crossing.

Tesla FSD Beta v11.4.9 is cautious around train tracks

Tesla FSD Beta v11.4.9 is cautious around train tracks to a fault. Here in Austin, Texas, people do not stop or slow for train tracks unless the guard rails are lit up and down or going down. In this video, we’ll step out of the Tesla together and observe how other drivers approach the train tracks.

Safety is good, so is going with the traffic flow

I do not have the answer to solving the Tesla’s slowdown problem around both crosswalks and train tracks.

As a driver who often switches from my own driving in human-pilot to going back into FSD beta many times in every drive I take, I simply override the autonomy. I do this by either speeding up the car by pressing on the gas peddle (accelerator) or by disengaging the FSD beta and taking over completely. In any case, the only time I let FSD beta proceed at the snail’s pace that it does, is when I am all alone on the road.

I think you will delight in this podcast. One day, when Tesla solves autonomy, we’ll look back to today (February 8, 2024) and think, “Wow, those were the good old days, haha!”

Gail’s Tesla Podcast Episode No. 53: Your Personal Profile when Driving a “Loaner” Tesla.

Austin, Texas

The day will come when you need something repaired on your beautiful Tesla. Driving a different car while yours is being fixed can be disconcerting.

Tesla has solved this for you by allowing your personal driver profile to transfer to loaner, or rental Tesla cars.

When I left my Tesla at the local Service Center, I was given a loaner Model Y and it immediately felt like my own because my seat settings, music settings, rear view mirror settings all transferred to the loaner car. This same experience will be similar if you rent a Tesla when you travel.

In this unique podcast, I am sharing my loaner car experience with you.

One of the more interesting things that transferred to my loaner car was my entire suite of Tesla FSD beta software!

I was amazed this happened because I was sure I would have to drive completely on humanpilot and standard Autopilot while my car was being repaired.

I am sharing this podcast with you in an effort to raise awareness among customers about the wonderful experience you can have as a Tesla owner.

Gail’s Tesla Podcast Episode No. 52: South Texas Drive out of Eagle Pass

Eagle Pass, Texas

Welcome to a milestone. I have shared 52 podcast episodes and hopefully shared the joys and the miracle of Tesla FSD beta with thousands of people like you!

In this beautiful South Texas region near Eagle Pass, we are heading into the rural areas of my lovely state of Texas. I think you’ll enjoy this podcast. I have learned a lot about illegal immigration into the USA from my travels. I have been astonished at the accuracy and precision of Tesla’s AI software, as it has allowed me to focus on the culture of the region, instead of stressing over driving in a place new to me.

Future is Bright for Humanity: Tesla Q4 2023 Earnings Call

What you will not hear from the mainstream media

The first post I wrote covering Tesla was in January 2022. I wrote about Tesla’s Q4 2021 earnings call. On that day I was locked out of my office (my laptop was locked inside) and there was a Pepsi just sitting there for me to enjoy. I remember calling my friend Johnna Crider that day and we talked until someone opened the doors. I still have that Pepsi bottle to remind me that “there is a lot of work to do, don’t get locked out!” I’ve been writing ever since about one of the best companies in the world: Tesla.

Tesla Q4 Earnings Call

Cybertruck owners love the feel and utility of their vehicles. Tesla built a truck with safety, speed, luxury, utility and performance in mind. You might wonder about deliveries. Are people taking delivery who made reservations years ago? The answer is yes, a Tesla executive explained that Cybertruck’s reservation-to-order conversion rate has been very promising, and if the trend continues, “it is expected that all 2024 builds will be sold out soon. New orders are also anticipated after the launch. The order numbers are increasing, and the team is working hard to ramp up production to fulfill the demand and decrease wait times.”

“Obviously,” Elon Musk said, “we could dramatically raise the price, but that doesn’t feel right to us to (price) gouge people for early delivery.” Elon estimates Tesla will produce around a quarter million Cybertrucks per year in North America, possibly more.

2024 is the year of the Cybertruck, and it is a head-turner

“You know, there’s some very good trucks on the road, but if you were to switch out the brand name, you wouldn’t hardly know which company made them. But you definitely would know the Cybertruck. That’s our best product ever.” – Elon Musk

Mini-Timeline: October 7, 2021: Elon Musk officially announces that the Tesla HQ will be located in Austin, Texas.

January 26, 2022: Full-year 2021 financial results reveal that making electric cars is more profitable than making combustion engine cars.

January 25, 2023: Uncertain times did not slow down Tesla. Giga Berlin and Giga Texas joined Giga Shanghai in the production of Model Y, and within months the vehicle became a top seller!

January 25, 2024: Cybertrucks hit the roads in the USA. Model Y surpassed expectations and became the global best-selling car. Gasoline cars fell behind for the first time.

Tesla Energy

Exciting News: Tesla announced that moving forward they will start reporting Tesla Energy volumes in their production and delivery releases. This is good because Tesla Energy has demand signals globally for their Megapack. Growth is almost guaranteed to be strong and consistent through 2024 and 2025. Tesla expressed gratitude to their partners throughout the world for their trust in the Megapack team and gave personal thanks to the engineering and production teams for their outstanding 2023 performance. The Lathrop facility will double its capacity from 20 to 40-gigawatt hours by the end of the year with the operation of a second final assembly line.

Growth for big battery production has been much faster than the car business. Elon emphasized, “The energy storage business delivered nearly 15-gigawatt hours of batteries in 2023, compared to 6.5 gigawatt hours the year before. Tremendous year-over-year growth, triple digits. I think we’ll continue to see very strong growth in storage as predicted.”

Many people are pleased that Elon Musk speaks often about Tesla’s progress and plans. This transparency is rare for big companies. Enjoy his opening remarks.

“The Tesla team did an incredible job in 2023. We achieved a record production and deliveries of over 1.8 million vehicles, in line with our official guidance. And in Q4, we’re producing vehicles at an annualized run rate of almost 2 million cars a year.

This was a phenomenal achievement. Looking at just the Fremont Factory alone, we made 560,000 cars. This is a record. In fact, it’s the highest-output automotive plant in North America.

And people are often surprised that the highest-output car factory in North America is in the San Francisco Bay area. It’s a little counterintuitive, perhaps. And it’s had an incredibly positive impact on that entire area. What would have been a rundown strip mall is the highest-productivity car plant in the Americas.

Think about that. It was derelict when we got it, and now, it’s the most productive plant in this entire part of the world, and it’s enriched the community in so many different ways. It’s really a gem. I’m super proud of the people that work there.

Model Y became the best-selling vehicle globally as predicted, and the best-selling vehicle of any kind, not just electric vehicles, with over 1.2 million units delivered. There’s a lot to look forward to in 2024. Tesla is currently between two major growth waves. We’re focused on making sure that our next growth wave driven by next-gen vehicle, energy storage, full self-driving, and other projects is executed as well as possible.

To close this blog post, I’d like to share with you my imaginary futuristic scenario, inspired by listening to the live stream.

In the year 2032, the world has entered an era of sustainable living and tech advancement, thanks to the visionary leadership of Tesla, Elon Musk, and its pioneering innovations. The family of the future is happier and more connected than ever before, as they enjoy the fruits of an earth transformed by clean energy and intelligent automation.

Thomas and Victoria arrive home in their sleek, self-driving Cybertruck, accompanied by four of their children. The family’s home is a testament to the power of technology, with a clean and inviting atmosphere that has been meticulously maintained by their trusty Tesla Optimus bot.

As the sun sets on the horizon, Victoria opens the smart curtains, revealing a breathtaking view of the city skyline. The temperature is a comfortable 65°, and the family decides to enjoy their dinner on the patio by the pool. The pool is heated by solar energy, a resource that powers the entire city through a network of Tesla Megapacks strategically placed on the outskirts. These big batteries store energy when the sun is not shining and the wind is not blowing, ensuring a constant supply of electricity.

After a delicious meal, the family of eight disperses to pursue their passions. The children immerse themselves in reading, creating art, and engaging in virtual reality gaming experiences, all powered by renewable energy. Meanwhile, the fully charged Optimus bot cheerfully takes care of the post-dinner cleanup, leaving the kitchen spotless and preparing the coffee machine for the next day’s caffeine fix.

As we reflect on this futuristic scenario, it’s clear that Tesla’s groundbreaking innovations have not only made our lives more convenient but also more sustainable and connected. The future is bright, and we have Tesla to thank for helping us to live in harmony with our planet and one another.
