Bluebonnets and sunsets
Join me for a drive outside of the city and into the gorgeous Texas Hill Country. Here in Texas, we are proud of our bluebonnets that line the sides of the roads in the early Spring. Every highway, every neighborhood, has these lovely flowers. This podcast, shot entirely on Tesla FSD beta with ONLY one small disengagement, is a relaxing, music-filled time. Hope you enjoy!
Why so many bluebonnets around Austin, Texas?
In the early 1960s, First Lady Lady Bird Johnson, a native Texan, spearheaded an effort to beautify American cities and highways, particularly in her home state. She championed the planting of native wildflowers, including bluebonnets, along Texas roadsides. Her efforts led to the passing of the Highway Beautification Act in 1965. As a result, bluebonnets became a common sight in Texas, especially around Austin, where they now bloom each spring in a vibrant display of color.
